Muscat: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has launched a public consultation on its draft environmental sustainability initiatives for the postal and e-commerce delivery services sector.

TRA seeks to implement the environmental objectives of Vision 2040 through initiatives aimed at reducing emissions, optimizing energy, and reducing environmentally polluting materials used for postal activity and delivery services.

The project of environmental sustainability initiatives for the postal services sector includes carbon emission reduction initiatives, packaging and recycling initiatives, energy conservation, and awareness.

TRA invited everyone to provide views on the public consultation document available on its website.

The TRA initiative holds significance as there is an increased demand for postal and delivery services trigged by e-commerce has led the sector to further utilize vehicle fleets (commercial and private) on a national level for its postal activities which impacts the environment.
