Campaign to boost SMEs continues in Dhofar

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) continues its promotional campaign (Our Pioneers in Dhofar) to mark the importance of the prominent role played by SMEs and the success of the Khareef Dhofar events.


The campaign includes media and marketing activities on social media platforms through video clips, influencers and media actors to promote institutions, projects, and locations at various tourist sites. They are for the general public to benefit from their services and products.


The sites include Al Askar Tower in the Wilayat of Taqah, the Nawafeth Park site on the Itin Plain, Al Dahariz Beach, Al Baleed Archaeological Park, Raysut Beach, the Small and Medium Enterprises Exhibition in Itin Plain, the Oman Crafts Exhibition in Samhuram Village, the Osara event in Raysut.


In addition, they are shedding light on the institutions incubated in the authority’s business incubator at the Sultan Qaboos Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah.


Mohammed bin Ahmed al Ghassani, Director of the SMEDA Department in Dhofar Governorate, said: “The campaign targets small and medium enterprises to maximise the benefits of the opportunities offered by the season, in addition to exploiting the media momentum to highlight a category that has an influential role in the success of the season through advertising breaks in The People and Khareef program on Oman TV focuses on small and medium enterprises and projects, in addition, to the campaign complementing the efforts of other government institutions such as the Dhofar Municipality and the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism.” The campaign included 18 small and medium enterprises that obtained the Entrepreneurship Card through billboards in various locations in the Dhofar Governorate.


The work assigned to SMEs during the Khareef Season 2022 amounted to RO 3,500,000, also to usufruct contracts and lease contracts for lands belonging to the Dhofar Municipality.


Within the framework of partnership and integration between the SMEDA and Dhofar Municipality, Dhofar Municipality has provided continuous support during the past year in its various tourism seasons to SMEs to strengthen its position in activating the tourism sector.
