MUSCAT: The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) celebrated the graduation of a new batch of emergency medical technicians from its Foundation Emergency Medical Programme. The graduation ceremony, held at the CDAA headquarters, was graced by Brigadier General Dr Abdul Malik bin Suleiman al Kharousi, Director-General of Medical Services, along with Colonel Mubarak bin Salem al Araimi, Director-General of Operations and Training.

Brigadier General Dr Abdul Malik bin Suleiman al Kharousi hailed the lecturers and instructors who played a vital role in shaping the skills of the graduates. As a gesture of recognition for their exceptional dedication, the lecturers were honoured, and the first graduates were presented with well-deserved awards and certificates. The graduates took the medical oath, reaffirming their commitment to serving humanity and saving lives.

A special segment of the ceremony showcased the practical exercises that the graduates had diligently practiced in the medical laboratories. This hands-on training equipped them with the necessary skills and confidence to handle real-life emergency situations effectively and efficiently.

The graduates successfully completed the Foundation Programme at the Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences, for over six months. The programme comprised English language courses, IELTS test preparation, anatomy, body physiotherapy, and medical terminology related to pre-hospital emergency medical services.

Subsequently, they underwent the comprehensive Foundation Emergency Medicine Programme, spanning two semesters of 16 weeks each. At the conclusion of each semester, the graduates embarked on practical training at various health institutions, ambulance centres, and the General Administration of Police Aviation. - ONA
