Salalah: The General Directorate of Heritage and Tourism in Dhofar Governorate concluded an introductory visit by various tourist offices in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The visit aimed to showcasing the attractions of Khareef Dhofar season in 2023.

Working in collaboration with Alila Atnow Mirbat Resort and flynas Saudi Arabia, the visit spanned four days and was part of a larger effort to revitalise tourism and develop the sector at regional and international levels, as set forth by the ministry.

Marwan bin Abdul Hakim al Ghasani, Director of the Promotion Department at the General Directorate of Heritage and Tourism in Dhofar Governorate, explained that the visit was the result of combined efforts between the ministry and tourism partners to boost interest in the Khareef Dhofar season. To further enhance the appeal of the season, mobile promotional workshops were organised in partnership with various stakeholders in the tourism sector.

Dhofar Governorate is home to numerous captivating tourist attractions, and the region's well-connected roads make it easily accessible. Notably, the construction and maintenance of the roads have been carried out with careful consideration for safe and integrated urban and economic development.

Flynas has been contributing significantly to connect visitors to Dhofar. After operating three flights per week from Riyadh during the previous year's Khareef season, it now runs direct flights from three Saudi cities (Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam) at a frequency of 12 to 13 flights per week, facilitating travel for over 4,400 visitors to Dhofar Governorate.

Salalah Airport had announced that it is scheduled to receive a total of 2,679 flights between June 21 and September 21. These flights include 1,456 domestic flights and 1,223 international flights.

Salalah Airport will welcome 536 direct flights from the United Arab Emirates, served by various Emirati airlines operating from airports in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah. Among these airlines, Wizz Abu Dhabi and Air Arabia will operate 87 and 93 flights, respectively. Sharjah Airport will operate 175 direct flights, while flydubai will provide 181 direct flights from Dubai Airport.

Moreover, 188 flights from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, operated by flynas Saudi Arabia, will connect Dhofar with Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and Breda. Additionally, 270 direct flights from Hamad International Airport in Qatar and 83 direct flights from Kuwait Airport will facilitate travel from the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait, respectively.

Kuwait Airways, Jazeera Airways, and Kuwait Airways will operate 57; 26, and 83 direct flights, respectively, further enhancing accessibility to Dhofar Governorate.
