Muscat: There has been an impressive rise in visitors coming to the Sultanate of Oman in personal vehicles using land borders from the Gulf Cooperation Council in recent times. The visitors are mainly tourists who love exploring various tourist destinations, especially Dhofar Governorate, known for the scintillating Khareef season.

In the given situation, Major Badr al Yaarubi, Director of Passports and Civil Status in Al Buraimi Police Command, emphasised the commitment and dedication of the Royal Oman Police in facilitating a seamless passage for tourists through various borders.

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has implemented measures to streamline customs, passport and visa procedures, ensuring a hassle-free entry process for visitors.

In addition to the administrative aspects, the Royal Oman Police goes beyond their duties by providing valuable advice, guidance and addressing inquiries or concerns from tourists.

They aim to ensure that travellers are well-informed and have a smooth experience during their visit to Oman.

Furthermore, the Royal Oman Police takes proactive steps to meet all necessary requirements and make preparations ahead of the Khareef season. This includes coordinating with relevant authorities to ensure the availability of essential services, facilities and infrastructure to accommodate the inflow of tourists. By doing so, they strive to create a welcoming and enjoyable environment for visitors.

Major Badr al Yaarubi underscored the significance of adhering to traffic laws to ensure the safety of individuals arriving through the land borders. Travellers must prioritise their well-being and that of others on the roads. This begins with proper vehicle maintenance, including regular inspections and ensuring the vehicle's overall condition is roadworthy.

Respecting the specified speed limits is of utmost importance. It not only ensures the safety of the driver and passengers, but also promotes a secure and harmonious traffic flow. Adhering to these limits minimises the risk of accidents and creates a safer environment for all road users.

Additionally, regulations regarding tinted windows should be followed. The tinting level should not exceed 30 per cent to ensure clear visibility for the driver and other road users. This limitation is crucial for maintaining a safe driving environment, especially during nighttime or adverse weather conditions.

When towing trailers behind vehicles, clear visibility of the licence plate and unobstructed rear lighting are essential for the safety of everyone on the road. Proper attachment, securing the trailer and ensuring that it does not impede the vehicle's lights or licence plate functionality are crucial considerations.

Visitors from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries can bring companions such as household workers, drivers and private cooks. They can obtain an electronic visa in advance or get one upon arrival at the border. Residents of the GCC countries can enter the Sultanate of Oman with a tourist visa through various borders.

The Royal Oman Police reiterates its commitment to providing assistance, support and necessary facilities to visitors of the Sultanate of Oman. Individuals can reach out and request services through the emergency hotline (9999).
