Muscat: In a bid to safeguard public rights and uphold land occupancy regulations, the General Directorate of Muscat Municipality in Bousher has taken decisive action against illegal plot holdings between 2020 and 2022.
A total of 33 illegal possessions were identified and removed from various locations in Bausher, where individuals had unlawfully encroached on public land, violating occupancy laws and regulations.
The reasons for the removals were diverse. Five of the possessions were confiscated due to encroachments on the beach area, with their boundaries overlapping the designated land plots. Additionally, one property was discovered to have unauthorized fixed additions constructed beyond the owner's land, lacking the necessary license.
Two properties were taken down for enclosing part of the street within their fences, while another had utilized a section of the lane for personal use and planted trees. Shockingly, 14 out of the 33 acquisitions involved the illegal takeover of government land during the two-year period under review. Other reasons for these illegal possessions included occupying areas outside the boundaries of designated land, constructing non-fixed additions, creating unauthorized concrete walls, and using land for unauthorized stockyards.
Muscat Municipality remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicate this illegal phenomenon, recognizing it as a blatant infringement on public rights and a violation of building requirements. The Municipality is actively collaborating with relevant authorities to curtail the prevalence of such unlawful acquisitions and is taking all necessary measures to achieve this goal.
This relentless effort by Muscat Municipality highlights their dedication to preserving public land and ensuring that regulations governing land occupancy are rigorously enforced. Through continued cooperation with concerned authorities, they are resolute in their pursuit of curbing illegal acquisitions and fostering a fair and lawful community.
