Muscat: The Muscat Municipality said on Thursday that construction operations, including excavations and demolition are not allowed at night or during holidays.

Based on Local Order No. 23/92 on the organization of buildings, it is not permissible to carry out any of the excavation, demolition and construction works between sunset and sunrise, on public holidays and Fridays in residential neighbourhoods before obtaining a prior approval from the municipality, under the conditions specified by it.

"No contractor is allowed to commence work before gaining a permit from the municipality, in accordance with the requirements followed in this regard, and after submitting a proof of receipt of the land plot boundaries by the Ministry of housing", the municipality said in an online statement.
