Oman's 3-5 star hotels witness 34.7pc revenue growth

MUSCAT: The revenues of 3- and 5-star hotels in Oman experienced a notable increase of 34.7 per cent to reach RO 98.4 million by the end of May, as reported by statistics published by the National Centre for Statistics and Information. Furthermore, the occupancy rate in these hotels rose to 13.6 per cent.


The number of guests also showed a significant growth. Among the guests, citizens constituted the largest group, with 274,700 staying in these hotels, followed by European guests with 239,600, and Asians with 110,300. The number of Gulf guests amounted to 54,500.


However, the revenues of these hotels experienced a decline in May, amounting to RO 14.3 million compared to RO 17.6 million in June. Nevertheless, the number of guests remained relatively stable during May 2023, with 133,900 guests compared to 133,800 in June. Citizens remained the dominant group among the guests, with 55,200 staying in these hotels, followed by European guests with 22,000, and Asians with 21,000. The number of Gulf guests reached 10,200.


It is worth noting that the number of guests in (3-5) star hotels in March 2023 totalled 166,600, while in February the number reached 187,800, and in January 2023 it reached 178,700.
