MUSCAT: The national sporting teams are all set to take part in the Arabian Sports Games which will be held in Algeria during July 5 to 15. Five sporting teams will represent Oman delegation in this Arabian meet including: Football. Athletics, Weightlifting, Sailing and Para-Athletics. Oman athletes are underway in their domestic and abroad gearing up plans and programmes ahead of the Arabian Sports Games start.
Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) Secretary-General, Taha al Kishry, met the representatives of the participating national teams on Sunday at the headquarter of OOC. “ We are looking forward for a successful participation of our national sporting teams in this event through registering the top results and clinching the medals,” Taha said
“ The five participated teams from Oman are promising to achieve top performance in this top class event specially athletics and sailing. Oman Olympic football team will take part in this Arabian Sports Games to gear up for 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Oman weightlifting team comprised from top weightlifters including Amer al Khanjari and Ilyas al Busaidy. Oman’s Para-Athletics star Taha al Harrasi selected as one of the athlete’s and I am confident he can impress in this meet as well,” he added
Eng. Ibrahim al Mahdawi, will preside over Oman’s delegation in this meet while Ahmed al Jahdhami will be the chief de mission. Badar Awlad Thani will be the assistant chief de mission while Moosa al Hinai as administrative members. Fahad al Zuhaimi will the media in charge and Ahmed al Farsi as the delegation photographer.
