Muscat: Over 900 children converged at the Middle East College, Student Hub in Muscat, Oman, to participate in the 4th National Brainobrain Abacus Competition, which was held on February 18.

The annual event saw a massive turn-out of children aged 5 to 14 years, making it one of the biggest Math-based events the city had seen.

The Brainobrain team strives to make Math both interesting and exciting by engaging children in competitions like these.

The event categorised the winners as champions, Gold toppers and Silver toppers. This year’s competition had 274 champions, 278 Gold and 247 Silver toppers.

An active and alert mind plays a big role in building a child’s memory and concentration skills. Brainobrain always encouraged children to play small arithmetic games and mental exercises to sharpen their learning abilities.

This National Abacus event is one of the biggest platforms that children get to test their concentration and memory power.

The competition was planned in a way that it gives children Math-based questions that test their skill and speed in the calculation, memory power and concentration power.

The day-long programme was inaugurated by Aanand Subramanum, Managing Director of Brainobrain International. Faculty and parents were also encouraged to be part of the event, which included fun activities, various cultural programmes and interesting talks about education and parenting.

Children also had an opportunity to be on stage and showcase their talent. The winners received their prizes from the chief guest Mazin al Sulaimani and Anand Subramaniam. The faculty members also received special awards for their efforts.

The Abacus mode of teaching has been tried and tested for decades and has seen to have a positive impact on children. It makes Math more than just an academic subject. It makes it fun, competitive and almost like a game.

Brainobrain has trained thousands of children in the concept of Abacus and smart calculation for almost two decades. With this annual Brainobrain event, the training centre hopes to inculcate in children an excitement for learning, the confidence to perform and to give them global exposure.

Brainobrain Oman is the official franchise of the internationally acclaimed Skill Development Programme for children, headquartered in Chennai, India, with a presence in over 43 countries.
