The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Finance, is participating in the "Summit for a New Global Financial Pact", which began today in the French capital, Paris, and will last for two days.

The delegation of the Sultanate of Oman was headed by His Excellency Sultan bin Salem Al Habsi, Minister of Finance.

The summit aims to lay the foundations for a new, more inclusive financial system in order to face the common global challenges of combating poverty, climate change, and loss of biodiversity.

The summit will discuss a number of axes, including the reform of multilateral development banks, and the debt crisis in developing countries by examining the best mechanisms to find appropriate solutions.

The summit will also discuss the related financing needs associated with climate change, the creation of new financing instruments, and supporting the private sector to participate in the development of low-income countries.

The summit brings together state leaders, state leaders, heads of government, ministers, senior officials, heads of international organizations, experts and specialists in financial and economic affairs from different countries of the world, fostering the exchange experiences, knowledge and ideas that contribute to the establishment of a new global financial compact.
