36 athletes to take part at Berlin World Summer Games

The Omani Special Olympics revealed its participation at the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Berlin 2023, during the press conference held at the Ministry of Social Development.


Oman team will participate with 36 male and female players with intellectual disabilities in 13 diverse sports, namely athletics, badminton, bocce, bowling, equestrian, turf football, golf, weightlifting, roller skating, swimming, table tennis, tennis and sailing.


7,000 men and women from 175 countries will take part in the World Summer Games, competing in 26 Olympic sports.


The Sultanate of Oman will be represented by Abdulrahman al Raqadi, during his project, which aims to empower leadership on the field and the role of players with intellectual disabilities in society.


Mohammed al Rashdi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Omani Special Olympics, said that the Omani delegation in the World Summer Games in Berlin 2023 reached 63 participants, including players, coaches, administrators, supervisors, escorts, the medical team and the press team.
