Salah bin Nasser al Alawi, Director General of Raysut Industrial City, said in a statement that the projects in the industrial city vary in terms of activities between industrial, service, commercial and support. The industrial projects account for the largest proportion with 192 projects.

The total number of workers in the industrial city reaches 4,156 in which 1,563 are citizens with 38 per cent Omanisation rate .

Al Alawi explained the city is witnessing an active investment movement during the current period, as the RO 12 million investment project, Salalah Steel Industries Company, started its experimental production and the official opening of the factory will take place during the coming period. The opening of the medical solutions project for the RO 7 million Dhofar Pharmaceutical Industries Company will also happen during the quarter.

“The active movement comes as a result of the completion of infrastructure services, administrative and technical services, the strategic location of the industrial city and its proximity to Salalah Port, which enhances import and export opportunities,” Al Alawi said.

“The proximity of the industrial city to Salalah Airport with the availability of flexible logistical services contribute to enhancing the attraction of investment opportunities, in addition to the proximity of the industrial city to the Yemeni market (about 300 km),” he added.

He pointed out that the service centre, Masar, in Raysut Industrial City is one of the investor services centers available in the industrial cities of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn).

Since its inauguration in November 1992, Raysut Industrial City has contributed to the development of the industrial sector in the Dhofar Governorate, encouraging Omani industries and urging the private sector to invest in the industrial field and exploit local resources by attracting industrial investments from within and outside the Sultanate of Oman to become a leading regional center in the field of manufacturing. — ONA
