

MUSCAT: The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) will host celebrations on on Sunday to mark 30 years of ‘Sustainable Industrial Development’ centring on the development of Suhar Industrial City. The event will be held under the auspices of Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidi, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zone (OPAZ)s.
The event comes on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the inauguration of the industrial city by reviewing the most prominent achievements and indicators achieved during the past period, listing the success experiences of Omani investors and entrepreneurs, and honoring a number of companies that won awards and completed 27 years in the industrial city.
Suhar Industrial City - which was inaugurated in November 1992 as part of the celebrations of the 22nd Glorious National Day - is one of the economic cities that attract local and foreign investment, as it comes within the strategies of the Sultanate of Oman to pay attention to industrial cities that support the diversification of income sources, due to the industrial city's characteristics of Incentive factors for investment represented by the presence of a typical business environment with a legal system encouraging investment, in addition to its strategic location and the availability of an integrated infrastructure equipped with all services.
Through Suhar Industrial City, Madayn aims to attract foreign investments, localize national capital, stimulate the private sector to contribute to achieving sustainable and comprehensive economic and social development, introduce modern technology and provide workers with the necessary technical skills to develop their production, and create new job opportunities for national cadres, in addition to encouraging exports, developing international trade, encouraging the establishment of export industries, and revitalizing the economic sectors operating in the Sultanate, such as: the transportation sector, the banking sector, the tourism sector, and other sectors (ONA).
