MUSCAT: The players of the Al Nahda team proudly celebrated their official crowning as the winners of the Omantel League, following the conclusion of the last round of the league. The prestigious event was held under the esteemed auspices of Shaikh Talal bin Saeed al Maamari, CEO of the Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel).

Al Nahda's outstanding performance throughout the tournament led them to claim the top spot with an impressive 56 points, finishing 4 points ahead of runners-up Al Suwaiq.

Moreover, Sur, with a tally of 28 points, maintained their position in 11th place, securing the last pre-relegation spot as they officially survived in round 24.

Al Nahda's achievement in clinching the league title marked a remarkable double for the team, as they had previously emerged victorious in the Sultan's Cup last March, defeating Al Seeb.

Meanwhile, Al Suwaiq showcased their strength by securing second place in the Omantel League, following a convincing 4-0 victory over Sohar in the final match of the 26th round. Essam al Subhi, Mamadou, Omar al Fazari and Saudi Ali were the goal scorers, leading Al Suwaiq to finish the league with 52 points, just one point ahead of third-placed Al Seeb.

Al Seeb had hoped for a stumble from Al Suwaiq to claim second place, but the latter secured their qualification for the Super Cup match.

According to the regulations set by the Oman Football Association, the participants of the Super Cup are the champions of both the league and the HM Cup, or the league champions and runners-up if one team secures both titles. This season, Al Nahda emerged victorious in both competitions and thus, they will face Al Suwaiq in the upcoming Super Cup encounter.

DHOFAR FOURTH

In another noteworthy match, Al Seeb triumphed over Al Rustaq with a solitary goal, scored by Mohsen Al Ghassani in the 90 + 5 minute. This victory enabled Al Seeb to conclude the league with 51 points, securing the third position.

Dhofar secured the fourth spot by defeating Al Ittihad with an impressive 4-1 win at Al Saada Complex Stadium.

Abdullah al Mushrafi's two goals, Josephat Lubaga, and Qasim Saeed were the goal scorers, propelling Dhofar to accumulate 45 points.

On the other hand, Al Ittihad's tally remained at 17 points, placing them in the 17th position and were relegated to the First Division League.

Additionally, Al Musannah emerged triumphant over Al Bashayer with a narrow 1-0 victory, raising Al Musannah's tally to 33 points, and securing the ninth position. Meanwhile, Al Bashayer remained at the bottom of the league standings with 12 points.

In another thrilling match, Oman Club and Al Oruba settled for a 3-3 draw, with Oman Club finishing the league in seventh place with 37 points, while Al Oruba ended up in 12th place with 17 points.

Lastly, Al Nasr lost to Bahla with a score of 2-1, so Al Nasr’s balance was stuck at 30 points in tenth place, while Bahla raised their tally to 40 points in sixth place.

This season of the Omantel League has been a testament to the exceptional skill and dedication exhibited by all the participating teams, and their remarkable achievements have captivated football enthusiasts across the nation.
