Rains lash some governorates, expected to continue on Wednesday

Muscat: Rainy conditions continued in a number of wilayats on Tuesday with rainfall of varying intensity reported on the Hajar Mountain and parts of Muscat, South Al Batinah and Al Dakhiliyah governorates and extended to North and South Al Sharqiyah governorates in the evening. Rain was associated with active wind blowing at speed ranging between 15 and 30 knots.


The Oman Met Office said rain is likely to continue on Wednesday.


The Wilayat of Seeb and districts of Al Khoudh, Al Hail, Al Mawalih and Al Mabellah of Muscat Governorate experienced thundershowers and active wind.


Heavy rains were reported in the Wilayat of Al Awabi in South Al Batinah Governorate while other wilayats witnessed rains of varying intensity.


The highest rainfall was reported in the Wilayat of Al Rustaq at 33 mm followed by the Wilayat of Al Hamra (32 mm), Wilayat of Liwa (30 mm), according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources. — ONA
