

MUSCAT: The second edition of the three-day Oman Power and Energy Forum is set to commence today at the Grand Millennium Hotel in Muscat. The forum will be held under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals. Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy & Minerals, will be the Chief Guest & Keynote Speaker at the forum. In his keynote speech, Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi will shed light on the important regulatory developments in the energy sector in the Sultanate of Oman, as well as review the efforts made in terms of energy transition.
The power and energy industry is currently experiencing a remarkable transformation, driven by the ever-changing dynamics of the global landscape. This shift is characterised by a growing emphasis on sustainable development, climate change mitigation, and the increasing demand for clean and renewable energy sources. Technological advancements and innovative solutions are reshaping the way energy is generated, stored, and distributed, leading to the rapid emergence of smart grids, microgrids, and decentralised energy systems.

Oman Power and Energy Forum will focus on the above changing dynamics of the global power and energy sector as well as explore the Sultanate’s strategy and achievements on the path of energy transition in alignment with the goals set forth in Vision 2040. The forum is hosted in partnership with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Oman Section, IEEE Power and Energy Society and Oman Society of Engineers with the support of the Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR) and in strategic partnership with Nama Group.
Over 60 top industry leaders from Oman, GCC and internationals markets will discuss on market trends and policies, sustainable energies, distribution systems, power grids, energy management and efficiency, and asset management and optimization. The forum will also encompass workshops covering subjects such as grid resilience, inventive approaches to dependable power system operations, and modularised and prefabricated grid solutions.
