Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology on Thursday celebrated the Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), which falls on May 18 this year.

The event seeks to raise awareness about the importance of making electronic services easily accessible to people with disabilities and the elderly. It provides exposure to people in this segment and offers them better opportunities of integrating into society.

In line with this concept, the Ministry issued a Digital Accessibility Policy to ensure that this segment gets fair and equal access to services and information available on ICT platforms and equipment, besides removing related barriers.
