Intl Day of Vesak celebrated in Oman

The International Day of Vesak, also known as the Buddha Jayanti, was celebrated at Nepal House in Muscat recently.


The event marked the promotion of Nepal’s tourist destinations with the attendance of hospitality, airline, tour and travel representatives.


Dornath Aryal, Ambassador of Nepal to the Sultanate of Oman, welcomed the guests and explained the importance of the International Day of Vesak/Buddha Jayanti. He also highlighted the cultural and natural attractions of Nepal.


Prof Dr Anil Shakya participated in the event virtually from Nepal and shed light on the multifaceted aspects of Buddhist philosophy and opined that it would be easier to establish a peaceful society by following the teachings of the Buddha. He also gave a motivational speech on how to live a happy life without stress and self-motivation by understanding that happiness lies within the soul.


Senior officers of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) made an informative presentation on Nepal tourism.


Members of the Nepali community presented folk performances, while some others among them played musical instruments of Oman.


Panche Baja (Traditional Nepali Music) drew appreciation from the audience. Guests were welcomed by ‘Panche Baja.
