Oman’s refinery products output jumps by 40.4%

MUSCAT: The total refinery products in the Sultanate of Oman jump by 40.4 per cent at the end of March 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, according to preliminary statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI).


The statistics showed the production of motor fuel (91) increased by 61.5 per cent, to reach 4,626,600 barrels until end of March, compared to the same period in 2022, which witnessed the production of 2,865,100 barrels. Its sales, on the other hand reached 3,456,400 barrels. Meanwhile, its exports increased by 191.2 per cent, to reach 1,585,000 barrels.


The production of motor fuel (95) amounted to 2,633,700 barrels, with a decrease of 7.8 per cent, compared to the same period in 2022, which amounted to 2,855,400 barrels. Its sales decreased by 3.1 per cent to reach 2,856,500 barrels, while exports amounted to 35,000 barrels, down by 95.8 per cent.


The production of gas oil (diesel) until the end of last March increased by 40.1 per cent to reach 8,310,400 barrels. Its sales increased by 5.9 per cent, to reach 3,479,700 barrels while its exports also increased by 70.7 per cent, compared to the same period in 2022 with 4,635,000 barrels.


Meanwhile, the production of jet fuel jumped to 2,694, 500 barrels, an increase of 98.7 per cent. Liquefied petroleum gas production increased by 40.5 per cent, to reach 1,848,700 barrels, and its sales increased by 11.3 per cent to 1,919,200 barrels. As for petrochemicals, gasoline production also increased by 302.6 per cent until end of March to reach 34,700 metric tonnes, compared to the same period in 2022. Its exports jumped to 39,900 metric tonnes, an increase of 365.1 per cent.


The production of paraxylene reached 115,500 metric tonnes, while its exports were reached 114 500 metric tonnes. Polypropylene production increased by 53.2 per cent with 67,600 metric tonnes, and its sales increased by 37.4 per cent, to reach 6,900 metric tonnes, while its exports increased by 56.3 per cent to reach 63,300 metric tonnes. — ONA
