GCC Youth, Sports Ministers meeting from today

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, will host the 36th meeting of GCC ministers of youth and sports from May 2-4 at Al Bustan Palace Hotel in Muscat.


During the meeting, they will discuss topics including the decision of the Supreme Council to study means of enhancing joint action in digital transformation and technologies.


The ministers will discuss the ways to develop joint Gulf action in the youth field, in addition to the youth volunteer work, among the strategic plan for the committee duties of Ministers of Youth and Sports in the GCC.


The meeting also will review the Gulf Youth Forum, as Oman participated in the previous forum in Saudi Arabia, in addition to the joint activities and programmes whose budgets are approved by the Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee.


They will review the strategic cooperation with regional and international organisations in the youth sector and the recommendations made by the technical committees.


In addition, talks will be held about the honourees and creative youth in the GCC, and the implementation of the Gulf Youth Day, as well as determining the place and date of the next meeting, which will be headed by Qatar for the year 2024.


The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, hosted the meeting of the Technical Committee, which was held last January.


In the technical meeting, they raised the year's activities including the Tomorrow’s Skills Programme in Bahrain, the Social and Cultural Forum for Girls, the Holy Quran Competition, the Youth Science Forum, the Youth Theater Festival, and the Youth Ideas Forum for Sustainability.


The General Secretariat had approved the honourees names in the youth field for the year 2023 in the GCC countries, Wafa al Ali and Rashid al Shamsi from the UAE. The Hope Ventures from Bahrain, Dr Abdullah al Fawzan, and Dr Luay al Tayyar from Saudi Arabia, Tilal Development Company and Occidental Oman, Khalifa al Shahwani and Hareb al Jabri from Qatar, Dr Hashem al Tabtabaei and Dr Fawaz al Ajmi from Kuwait.
