

Muscat: Revenues of three to five-star rated hotels increased by 49.9 percent to RO73.2 million at the end of last March, compared to the same period last year, which was RO48.9 million.
According to the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the total number of guests in three to five-star hotels in the Sultanate of Oman increased 25.6 percent to 522.700 guests, from 416,200 guests in the same period of the year
Last March, the occupancy rate in hotels increased by 17.5 percent to 56.4 percent, compared to 48 percent in the same period in 2022.
The data showed that the number of Omani guests topped the list with 181.300 guests, recording a decline of 1.5 percent compared to 184,000 guests in the same period last year, followed by the number of European guests (169,300), an increase of 41.8 percent compared to the last year's 119,400 guests.
The number of Asian guests was 64,600, with a growth rate of 53.4 percent compared to 42,100 guests last year.
The statistics showed that the number of guests from the Gulf (nationals) increased by 30.9 percent to reach 33,000 in 2023 compared to 25,200 guests in 2022, while the number of other Arab guests increased by 38.1 percent to 21,600 compared to 15,600 guests in 2022.
The number of American guests increased by 6.4 percent to 17,000 from 16,000 in 2022.
The number of guests from the African continent went up by 43.5 percent to 2,800 from 2,000 in 2022 during the same period.
The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) said that 127 new hotel establishments are being established at an investment cost exceeding RO 340 million.
