

NEW YORK: Represented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Sultanate of Oman took part in the 12th edition of the Economic and Social Council’s Youth Forum, which concluded on Thursday, at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York.
Oman was represented at the meeting by Basil bin Ahmed al Rowas, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Sports and Youth.
The forum focused on various youth issues, including accelerating recovery from the Covid -19 pandemic, the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and youth partnership in areas of industry, innovation, infrastructure, sustainable cities and communities.
The Economic and Social Council’s Youth Forum constitutes an annual initiative undertaken by the Council’s presidency to make the event a major platform through which youth can contribute to policy making discussions at the UN’s level. The forum will voice the collective ideas, solutions and innovations of youth.
Oman participated in this global forum through three main ministries, which are: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Economy. - ONA
