Cleansing the body and mind is a process of eliminating toxins and negative thoughts from our physical and mental being.


Our bodies are incredibly powerful at keeping us fit and healthy through the constant elimination of toxins that can potentially harm us.


Our minds are continuously processing thoughts and emotions. Over time, the by-products of these processes can start to build, causing both to slow down and become less effective.


Recognising the signs and understanding how to cleanse yourself is vital for a healthy, long life. If you have sluggish digestive issues, irritated skin, mental confusion or are affected by fatigue and headaches, consider a cleanse.


Similar to how the sinks in your house are initially clean and free of any debris. However, after regular usage, gunk starts to build up inside the pipes which can result in a blockage if they aren’t regularly cleaned out. Cleansing yourself helps deblock the 'clogs'.


Our bodies are exposed to various toxins and pollutants daily, from the food and drink we ingest, to the air we breathe and products we use.


Here are various ways to cleanse the body:


- Water is essential for flushing waste.


- A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables and fiber is crucial for an optimal system.


- A juice cleanse is incredible for your health.


- Include probiotics (soy, kefir, miso, kimchi) to improve gut health.


- Regular exercise and deep tissue massages help improve your circulation and lymphatic system.


- Sweating through exercise, from a sauna or steam room does wonders.


- Colon cleansing improves your overall health.


- Dry brushing is great to exfoliate dead cells and promote the growth of new ones.


- Tongue scraping is necessary to remove bacteria.


- Air purifiers and plants allow for better breathing.


The mind also accumulates toxins in the form of negative thoughts and emotions which can lead to stress, anxiety and depression.


Here are some ways to cleanse the mind:


- Meditation and deep breathing are powerful tools to promote relaxation, reduce stress and increase awareness.


- Practice an attitude of gratitude to create more connection.


- Writing down negative thoughts and emotions can help promote mental clarity.


- Have a digital detox and intentionally sit in an allocated area to read, day dream or journal to track your emotions and gain clarity.


- Read self-help books to gain insight into your thought patterns and behaviours.


- Spend time in nature to reduce stress and gain perspective.


- Declutter your home and donate to charities.


- Alternative remedies such as chakras clearing, crystal healing and essential oils are beneficial.


Overall, cleansing is greatly valuable to remove toxins and negative energy from your body and mind. Unclogging those ‘pipes’ helps release negative thoughts and emotions, improves mental clarity and promotes a more positive outlook on life.
