Development projects well under way in Musandam

KHASAB: The Musandam Municipality continues implementing a number of service and sustainable development projects to stir development in all wilayats of Musandam Governorate.


This includes developing the historic village of Kamzar, constructing a floating pier in Khur Najd, constructing Khursham mountain path and the waterfront in the Wilayat of Daba, among other projects.

Engineer Nassir bin Humaid al Hosni, Director-General of Musandam Municipality, said that the municipality is currently handling several projects related to the economic, tourist and social domains including the construction of a 2.5 km walk track the implementation rate of which now stands at 88 per cent.


The development project of Kamzar Village has reached 90 per cent completion rate. The project involves façade design, a bridge, constructing wave-breakers along the road leading to the village, construction of a children’s park in the village in addition to the fishermen’s forum project.

The floating pier project is one of the most important service projects in Musandam Governorate owing to its prime location which facilitates the movement of boats. The pier has a modern design with a 750-metre high platform that gives tourists a unique experience to watch down on stunning views. In addition, work is underway on the waterfront project in the Wilayat of Daba, one of the most prominent projects in Musandam.

The project has an area of 1,285 sq metres and is envisioned as a tourist destination and outlet for the residents of the Wilayat of Daba. The project involves a number of facilities including: a concrete barrier to protect the project and the adjoining areas from waves, a walkway, sports facilities, children’s playground, car parks along the beach, green areas, and an in a semi-circular open theater, among others. The completion rate of the project now stands at 20 per cent, the official said. — ONA
