Seeb need big win against Bahrain’s Muharraq

Seeb will eye a triumph with more than two goals margin to keep their hopes alive when they face Bahrain’s Muharraq club in the second round of the preliminary round of the King Salman Cup for Arab Football Clubs on Tuesday. The match will take place at Seeb Stadium and the fixture will start at 10 pm. The first leg match ended for Muharraq by 2-0 in Manama city on March 14.


The MG Cup Champions shaped their readiness for the crucial match and the team went for few training sessions under the watchful eyes of the national experienced head coach Rasheed Jaber. Today’s win for Seeb with above 2-0 result means advancing of Oman’s representative to the next round of the championship. The overall winner will meet either Tunisia’s US Monastir or Yemen’s Fahman club.


Seeb are equipped with different key players who can play a major role in Tuesday's match including many national team stars like Salah al Yahyai, Abdulaziz al Maqbali, Mohsin al Ghassani beside Dijibola and the players in other areas.


The Muscat-based team is a well known side in the external participation as they had delivered a top show in the previous season. In 2021-22, Seeb had managed to clinch the coveted HM Cup, top tier of domestic league and lifting their maiden title of AFC Cup trophy in October 2022. In this season, Seeb ended HM Cup as runners-up after losing 1-0 in the final against Al Nahda while their hopes are low in retaining the top flight league title as they are positioned in the sixth place with 29 points.


On the other hand, opponents Muharraq club will play the match much comfortably as a draw or 1-0 defeat will advance them to the next round. The Bahraini team comprises many top players including Victor, Mohammed Jafar, Sufyan Mahrooq and others. They will aim to end the match on appositive result that will ensure their progression into the next level of the tournament. The Muharraq club delegation arrived to Muscat on Sunday and they had their initial training sessions on the same day. The final training session was held on Monday at the match venue.


Seeb board directors decided to open the doors of Seeb Stadium free of charge for the local audience to support the team in their crucial game against Muharraq club.
