Weight loss maintenance

Unless and until you are not disciplined toward your health, no amount of diet or exercise will do the thing

The real challenge lies in the fact that it is not losing but maintaining the reduced weight.

Those who have embarked on weight loss journeys are well-versed in the return of those lost pounds. So many of us stay dedicated and focused while undergoing any specific weight loss programme.

We are ready to take all the pain, give up on our favourite foods, and become exercise freaks but as soon as the target weight is reached. We feel like we’ve conquered the world and gradually begin to retreat. Albeit this is just the tip of the iceberg as now sustaining these lost kilos is when the real game begins.

It seems convincing enough to abstain from your faulty lifestyle for certain weeks in the quench of getting into your desired shape but that is idealistic and not a realistic approach.

Moreover, there are social media trends and hacks that are so appealing to follow but lack scientific backing and thus, when unfollowed leads to an earlier state of weight gain.

And you find yourself oscillating between weight loss and weight gain.

So, what is the code of conduct on a sustainable weight loss journey?

What works to accomplish any goal in life implies here too and that is discipline. Unless and until you are not disciplined toward your health, no amount of diet or exercise will do the thing.

After a few weeks of abstaining if you are bashing at food uncontrollably, it means you are pushing yourself in the wrong direction.

You need to pick your meal choices wisely so that you feel satiated and not deprived of it.

If you have tamed bad food habits over time, try getting rid of them one at a time and then stay disciplined to not reinvite them again into your lifestyle.

Don’t exert upon yourself the weight loss ride as a burden as if once the target is reached, you want to retreat. Instead learn to enjoy the process, and not be haste towards attaining a specific number on the scale.

A slight variation in weight is alright after feasting at parties or while on a holiday or vacation but dramatic weight loss and weight gain episodes can bring serious consequences to your health. And that is why, adopt steady and sustainable eating habits. It would be better if undertaken under the supervision of an expert.

Adopt clean eating habits rather than restrictive diet plans. Indulge in all the nutritious food items in moderation along with 30-40 minutes of brisk walking and you’ll find you’ve cracked the deal to keep your weight in check.
