Al Bashayer thump Oman Club in Ministry’s Shield

Al Bashayer Club secured a stunning victory against Oman Club with a score of 80-42 in the 13th edition of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth Basketball Shield 2022-23. The match was held at indoor courts of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher on Wednesday.


In an intense game, Al Bashayer dominated the match and won all four periods. Despite the efforts of the Oman Club to reduce the difference, Al Bashayer managed to respond and widen the difference comfortably.


The game started with Al Bashayer attacking and scoring, with Saeed al Saadi opening the scoring by shooting two points from under the basket. American professional Aaron Clyde also added two points to widen the gap. While the defence of Al Bashaer Club stopped the attacks of Oman Club, Ahmed al Halali scored two points to consolidate the lead.


Oman Club responded by scoring two points through Hussein al Kindi and continued to attack, with Musab al Wahibi scoring a three-pointer. The two teams continued to attempt offensively, with Al Bashayer adding 17 points and Oman Club adding 8 points to end the first quarter with Al Bashayer leading 23-13.


In the second quarter, Oman Club's defence awakened, nullifying several Al Bashayer attacks. Oman Club attacked and managed to score 13 points, while Al Bashayer scored 19 points. The first-half ended with Al Bashayer Club leading Oman Club 42-26.


ALL-OUT ATTACK


In the third quarter, Al Bashayer continued their offensive advantage, adding 15 points while Oman Club scored only 6 points. The third quarter ended with Al Bashaer leading 57-32.


In the fourth quarter, Al Bashayer widened the gap, with their players scoring 23 points while Oman Club scored 10 points. The game ended with Al Bashaer Club defeating Oman Club with a score of 80-42.


The match was officiated by Thani al Khalasi as the first referee, Ali al Salmani as the second referee and Maa al Samria as the third referee. The table officials were Al Hamdaniya, Umaima al Hujariya and Yaqoub al Nadabi.
