NIZWA: Most parts of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate received heavy rains on Tuesday. The rain caused waterlogging in many areas, and most of the wadis were overflowing till the time of filing this report.

The rain caught people unaware even though the forecast for bad weather and rains were there from the Met Office. Fortunately, students came back home safely even as many roads leading to the valleys were cut off and roads were blocked at several places.

Most wadis in the Wilayat of Nizwa, including Al Hijri, Al Musalla, Al Rahba, Sumait, Al Suwaihriya, Kamma, Kalbuh, and Wadi Al Muaiden were seen overflowing. Similar was the case in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar where Wadi Al Manakher and Wadi Saiq were flowing with a huge current of water.

Izki also witnessed the flow of the wadis including Al Hajar, Al Masdoud, Al Shabak and Qent.

On the positive side, the rain eased the summer heat and gave relief to those who are fasting during the holy month of Ramadhan.

With the rain, the people are expecting good crops, flowers, and nutrition for standing trees and herbs in the area.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority, cloudy weather will continue for some time in other governorates including North al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Dakhiliyah, Muscat, South Al Sharqiyah, North Al Sharqiyah and Al Wusta. There are chances of rain of varying intensity, sometimes thundery, accompanied by active downward winds and hail.
