Muscat: Muscat Municipality has issued fresh guidelines to regulate street vendor businesses and based on municipal regulations.

The rules state that only Omanis can engage in this business, and it is prohibited to employ expatriate workers all over Muscat Governorate.

Those wishing to engage in the mobile vending business must apply for initial approval for the required activity, and to commit not to practice it without obtaining final approval from the municipality.

All licensed vendors must adhere to the stipulated health requirements while carrying out these activities.

As work is underway to reallocate the sites dedicated to mobile vending businesses, licensed mobile vendors should rush to reconcile their conditions in accordance with the healthy controls and requirements stipulated in the ministerial decision 241/2016 issued by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, which relates to the issuance of the regulation of the organization of mobile vendors, and to comply with the provisions of Muscat Municipality resolutions 185/2017 and administrative resolution no. 219/2019, within a period not exceeding one month from the date of issuing this announcement.
