Muscat Municipality inks pact to improve cleanliness at beaches

Muscat: Muscat Municipality today signed an agreement with Security and Safety Services (SSS) establishment on cooperation to monitor beaches and public utilities of the municipality, pursuant to Local Order No. (32/97) on protecting public places affiliated to Muscat Municipality.


The agreement seeks to protect public facilities against harmful behaviour, including dumping of waste in non-designated areas or beaches. It regulates hygiene and environmental safety measures. The municipality undertakes the mission of training security and safety personnel on the mechanism of monitoring and documenting municipal violations.


It enables the staff to coordinate with municipal employees authorized to take legal action against offenders if they fail to respond to the instructions of municipal inspection or security personnel. The agreement was signed by Ahmed Mohammed Al Humaidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, and Retired Brig. Said Sulaiman Al Asmi, CEO of SSS.
