

MUSCAT: The Main Committee for the Sighting of Ramadhan Moon for 1444 AH announced that today (Thursday) marks the first day of the holy month of Ramadhan after receiving reports that confirmed the sighting of the moon.
This came in a statement issued by the committee on Wednesday during its meeting at the premises of the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs.
The meeting was chaired by Dr Mohammed bin Said al Maamari, Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, and attended by His Eminence Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad al Khalili, the Grand Mufti of the Sultanate of Oman, Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidy, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr Wail bin Saif al Harrasi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, Shaikh Mohammed bin Salim al Akhzami, Supreme Court Judge, Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulsattar al Kamali, Supreme Court Judge, and Shaikh Mohammed bin Salim al Nahdi, Supreme Court Judge.
In its statement, the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs extended greetings to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on the advent of the holy month of Ramadhan, praying to Allah Almighty for the return of this blessed occasion while His Majesty enjoys good health and wellbeing. The ministry wished the Omani people and the entire Islamic world plentiful blessings and bounties.
Meanwhile, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has exchanged cables of greetings on the advent of the holy month of Ramadhan with Arab and Islamic leaders of the brotherly and friendly countries.
In his cables, His Majesty the Sultan expressed his sincere sentiments along with his best wishes of good health, happiness and long life to them and their countries’ people further progress, prosperity and welfare.
His Majesty also prayed to the Almighty Allah to bestow his blessings on all Muslims, wishing that it would be a month of security, peace and stability.

They also wished the Omani people to achieve all aspirations of progress, prosperity and welfare. HM, Bahrain King exchange greetings
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on Wednesday exchanged greetings over the phone on the advent of the holy month of Ramadhan with King Hamad bin Issa al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
His Majesty the Sultan expressed his sincere sentiments and best wishes of good health, happiness and a long life to King Hamad. His Majesty also prayed to Allah the Almighty for the return of this holy occasion on King Hamad while the people of Bahrain realise aspirations of further progress and prosperity, and the Arab and Islamic world blessings and welfare.
On his turn, King Hamad expressed his greetings to His Majesty, praying to Allah the Almighty to grant His Majesty continuous good health, happiness and long life. He also wished for the return of this occasion while the Omani people realise aspirations of further development and growth. — ONA
HM greets citizens and residents
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has addressed a message of greetings on the advent of the holy month of Ramadhan, said a statement issued by the Diwan of Royal Court to this effect reading as follows: “Upon the advent of the holy month of Ramadhan, as Muslims all over the globe revel over the blissful onset of the holy month - His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has addressed a message of greetings to Omani citizens, residents in the Sultanate of Oman and the whole Islamic nation on the advent of the holy month, praying to Allah the Almighty to accept their fasting, prayers and good deeds. His Majesty also prayed for the return of this and similar occasions while all are enjoying good health and happiness.
“May the Almighty Allah bestow His plentiful bounties on His Majesty the Sultan and guard him as a treasured source of pride and inspiration to this nation, its citizens and residents!” — ONA
