KHASAB: The Governorate of Musandam launched the first phase of the digital transformation plan (2021-2925), on Wednesday.

The plan encompasses four initiatives: the e-platform project, internal and external non-municipal services, unification of network telecommunications and provision of Internet services, upgrading network infrastructure and cybersecurity and cloud.

The launch of the first package of digital transformation is in line with Oman Vision 2040 and the technological orientation of the communications and information technology sector. It is also in line with the vision and mission of the governorate and its strategic objectives that aim to realise certain benefits for the governorate and to address the challenges it faces and develop its work environment.

Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidy, Governor of Musandam, chief guest, delivered a speech in which he said: “Today, digital transformation is no longer an option but an imperative as all countries are racing for it not for the sake of luxury but to upgrade services, productivity and communication among individuals. The digital transformation opened up new horizons for the private sector to participate with the government sector in creating smart applications that facilitate government transactions. Besides, digital transformation contributes to reducing the cost of paperwork and minimising environmental damage.” — ONA
