Muscat: A joint cooperation programme to develop the digital platform for the Sultanate of Oman’s National Innovation System was signed here on Sunday during the meeting of the steering committee of “Oman Innovate Platform”.

The cooperation programme is conducted jointly by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Oman Information and Communication Technology Group (ITHCA Group) and the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.

The programme was signed by Dr Saif Abdullah al Hadabi, Undersecretary for Research and Innovation, Dr Ali Amer al Shidhani, Undersecretary for Communication and Information Technology and Eng Said Abdullah al Mandhari, CEO of ITHCA.

Al Hadabi said that the signing of the cooperation programme comes within the framework of ensuring the establishment of effective and integrated digital milieus in the field of innovation. The programme also aims to benefit from global experiences in this field.

On his turn, Al Shidhani pointed out that the development of the digital platform for innovation reflects the government's relentless pursuit of maximizing the benefits of employing modern digital technologies and applying best practices in this field. The move, he underscored, comes in line with the directives of the Sultanate of Oman in achieving the objectives of the National Programme for Digital Economy.
