Seeb edge Saham to lift U20 football league

Seeb boys clinched the Under-20 football league crown as they defeated Saham 4-3 in penalties after the regulation time ended in a 1-1 draw in the final match on Sunday at Seeb Stadium.


In a thrilling clash, both teams remained focused with strong defending in the back lines. The real action began in the last ten minutes of the game as Nibras al Busaidy took Seeb to the lead as he netted the opening goal of the game in the 87th minute. Abdullah Habib scored the equaliser in the dying minutes (94th minute) and before the referee decided to end the game.


The equaliser moved both sides to the penalties. Seeb’s goalie Hadhram al Hadhrami impressed in the penalty shoot-out as he saved Saham’s first penalty which was taken by Khalfan al Rudaini and Al Muhannad al Buraiki’s kick went outside. Seeb’s players scored all their four penalties and snatched the title.

The bronze medals went to Al Salam players as they beat Qurayat 1-0 in the third and fourth play-off. The only goal in the match was scored by Hashar al Darmaki.


Later, Eng Mohammed bin Mahmood al Zadjali, Advisor of Tourism and Heritage Minister gave away the trophy and other awards to the top winners in the presence of HH Sayyid Melek bin Shihab al Said, Seeb club's vice-chairman, and officials.

SUHAR CLAIM U17 TITLE


Earlier last week, Suhar junior players lifted the title of U17 football league after beating Al Suwaiq 3-1 in penalties as the regulation ended in a 1-1 draw in the final clash. Al Musannah took the third place award as they defeated Saham 2-0.


On the other hand, Oman U20 team ended their campaign in the AFC Asian U20 Cup which is underway in Uzbekistan until Saturday. Oman boys finished their participation from group stage with one point only from a goalless draw against Jordan in the third match. The team had suffered two defeats against South Korea and Tajikistan 4-0 and 1-0 respectively.
