Oman Club stun Bahla, Seeb defeat Saham

Muscat-based teams Oman Club and Seeb clinched crucial wins in the fifth week of the volleyball first division league for 2022-23 season.


Oman Club defeated Bahla 3-0 on Thursday at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex main hall while Seeb registered their fourth successive triumph in the league as they stunned Saham 3-0 in Sohar Sports Complex. Al Bashayer earned an essential 3-2 win against Suhar in a thrilling match that extended to five sets at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.


With completion of the fifth week fixtures, Oman Club are leading the league table by 12 points and Seeb are second with the same credit. Al Bashayer’s win against Suhar took them up to the third place with nine points while the looser dropped to fourth place with their previous credit at six points. Majees, Saham and Bahla are positioned in the bottom of the league order in fifth to seventh spots respectively and all the teams played four games.


Oman Club, coached by Mohammed al Shizawi, dominated the league as they beat Bahla 3-0 following to their previous win against Saham 3-0 few days ago. The score line of the three sets ended at 25-11, 25-7 and 25-17.


On the other hand, Seeb are closing on the leaders and remained unbeaten. The fourth victory was recorded over former champions Saham 3-0 at the latter’s home. The Seeb spikers ended the first set at 25-17 and then they doubled their lead as they won the following set by 25-11 and they confirmed the win in the third set by 25-17.


Oman and Seeb clubs are the closest to compete on the title of the first division league for 2022-23 season. Seeb managed to open the new season by lifting the Super Cup after they had defeated Oman Club 3-0 in the final in November end. The sets of the Super Cup match ended at 25-12, 25-14 and 25-22.


Oman Club spikers are looking to compensate in this competition as they have the chances to win specially the team featured top players from the national team including Saud al Mamari and Ibrahim al Mazaeni.
