20th UTAS Nizwa forum to showcase students’ talents

The University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) Nizwa kicked off the 20th students’ forum recently with the attendance of a big number of participants along with the evaluation committee members.


A total of 21 competitions in six fields were announced to 45,000 thousand male and female students from 11 branches of UTAS. The participants who took part in the competitions of the forum in the first three days of the competition came from UTAS Salalah, Muscat, Sur, Al Rustaq and Al Musannah. The competitions, held from March 5 to 7, were in the area of reciting the Holy Quran, poetry and rhetoric in which they were presented in front of 43 evaluation committee members. The students’ forum will conclude on May 10 where a number of three winners will be rewarded.


It is worth mentioning that this version of Students’ Forum is aimed at showcasing students’ talents and encouraging them for innovation and creativity and to create a sense of competition among students besides encouraging them to outperform in the field of scientific research and entrepreneurship. The forum competitions will qualify participants to participate in similar competitions in the near future.


The first ranked student will obtain an amount of RO 200, the second ranked winner will receive RO 150 and the third ranked competitor will be rewarded with an amount of RO100. The forum will include an exhibition to showcase the work of the winners of various competitions.


Dr Mohammed al Kharousi, Dean of UTAS Nizwa and the head of the main committee of the forum said, “We are proud of the tremendous attendance of the audience since students’ activities are considered to be one of the most important on the level of UTAS. The evaluation committee members have witnessed the great participation of the students in the various competitions of the first few days of the forum. It was very clear on the first three days of the event how the students were excited to compete and they will be qualified to participate on a regional and local level.”


Ali al Hajri, Head of the Competitions Committee of the forum, said, “These competitions that are held for the creativity of students witnessed the digital transformation this season under the slogan ‘Digital Horizons’. UTAS Nizwa took a very good care of this event, gave it a significant focus and prepared very well for it.”
