The University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) Nizwa has

geared up for the 20th Students Forum that will commence on March 5

at its premises. The slogan for this year is ‘Digital Horizons’.

The main committee of the forum conducted preparatory meeting recently

to discuss the details of the event. Dean of UTAS-Nizwa, Dr

Mohammed al Kharusi, who chaired the meeting, said, “The meeting is

to review the preparations for the exceptional event that seeks to

boost students’ talent and develop self-abilities and scientific skills as

per UTAS vision which seeks to build an integrated personality for the

university students.”

“The forum seeks to instil digital culture in the hearts of students and

the surrounding community through the marketing identity 'Digital

Horizons', as it is capable of making change, and is in line with the

bright future aspirations in the world of modern technology,” he added.

Dr Huda al Shueili, UnderSecretary of Students’ Services and Electronic System and the General Supervisor of the Students’ Forum, said, "It is worth mentioning that hosting the event will produce a unique

version of the Students’ Forum in which there would be more than 22

areas that attract students’ religious, artistic, technical, literary,

scientific and informational interests."

The forum will cover competitions from March 5 to May 8 in the areas

of Holy Quran, preliminary qualifiers for the Islamic songs, poems

and public speaking.

Media, technical, scientific, artistic and short story competitions are

also part of the forum. A large number of students from all branches of

UTAS will take part in the competitions. The event will conclude on

May 10 with results of the competitions and prize distribution.
