The University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) Nizwa has
geared up for the 20th Students Forum that will commence on March 5
at its premises. The slogan for this year is ‘Digital Horizons’.
The main committee of the forum conducted preparatory meeting recently
to discuss the details of the event. Dean of UTAS-Nizwa, Dr
Mohammed al Kharusi, who chaired the meeting, said, “The meeting is
to review the preparations for the exceptional event that seeks to
boost students’ talent and develop self-abilities and scientific skills as
per UTAS vision which seeks to build an integrated personality for the
university students.”
“The forum seeks to instil digital culture in the hearts of students and
the surrounding community through the marketing identity 'Digital
Horizons', as it is capable of making change, and is in line with the
bright future aspirations in the world of modern technology,” he added.
Dr Huda al Shueili, UnderSecretary of Students’ Services and Electronic System and the General Supervisor of the Students’ Forum, said, "It is worth mentioning that hosting the event will produce a unique
version of the Students’ Forum in which there would be more than 22
areas that attract students’ religious, artistic, technical, literary,
scientific and informational interests."
The forum will cover competitions from March 5 to May 8 in the areas
of Holy Quran, preliminary qualifiers for the Islamic songs, poems
and public speaking.
Media, technical, scientific, artistic and short story competitions are
also part of the forum. A large number of students from all branches of
UTAS will take part in the competitions. The event will conclude on
May 10 with results of the competitions and prize distribution.
