Ibri club confirmed their attendance to the 2023-24 Omantel League as they earned the first spot to the top-flight league. Al Dhahirah club representatives defeated Ahli Sidab 1-0 on Wednesday night at Royal Oman Police Stadium in Al Wattayah in the seventh round of the first division league.
The only thrilling goal in the match was scored by George Junior in the 12th minute of the first half of the game and they managed to keep their lead in the encounter till end of the game.
Ibri had won the first leg match at their home by 3-0.
The triumph took the credit of Ibri to 19 points which sealed a place in the top-tier league next season. Coached by the national experienced coach Mohsin Darweesh, Ibri showed top performance this season. It was the second successive victory for Ibri as they thrashed Al Ittifaq in the previous round by 4-0.
On the other hand, Al Wahda and Al Shabab are inching closer to earn the other spot to the top-tier league as the former registered a comfortable 4-1 win over Al Ittifaq. Al Shabab also revived their hopes to return back to Omantel League as they edged past Muscat 3-1.
Three more rounds are remaining for the first division league as Ibri will meet Al Shabab in a tight clash on Tuesday. The match will start at 5:25 pm in Ibri Sports Complex while Al Wahda will meet Ahli Sidab on the same day at Sur Sports Complex. Muscat will take on Al Ittfaq at Seeb Stadium. The concluding round matches will be played on March 18.
“It was a dream for Al Dhahirah Governorate to see one of its clubs in the top-tier league. I am very pleased with this historic achievement.
