Oman beach soccer team beat Ukraine twice in friendly matches during the current preparatory camp for the national team on the sandy field in the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.

The camp is aimed to prepare Oman beach soccer for participating in the Asian Cup, which will be held in Thailand from March 16 to 26.

In the first match on February 28, Oman edged Ukraine 6-5. Sami al Balushi and Ahmed al Owaisi scored two goals each while Younis al Owaisi and Yaqzan al Hendasi netted one each.

In the second match on Wednesday, Oman continued good form to beat Ukraine 4-2. Yahya al Muraiki scored two goals and Yaqzan al Hendasi and Salem al Arimi scored one goal each.

Oman will next play two friendly games against the Russian beach soccer team on March 7 and 8. The matches kick-off at 6:30 pm on the sandy field in the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.

Oman coach Talib bin Hilal al Thanawi said: “Our players performed well in all the friendly matches they played, whether in the internal or external camp that was held in Saudi Arabia.”

The coach added that the players are ready to take on the challenge of the Asian Cup, indicating that four new players have been recruited recently for the national team, Hamad al Araimi, Yaqzan al Hindasi, Noah al Battashi, and Moaz al Sanani.

“The team has made good improvement over the years in a short period of time. The national team players benefited greatly from the friendly matches they played recently,” Talib said.

“The external camp in Saudi Arabia was important for us, during which our national team played three friendly matches against the host country, the Saudi national beach soccer team. We succeeded in winning all the matches.”
