Oman beach soccer team back to action in internal camp

Oman beach soccer team is back to action after a gap of more than five months from their last presence at the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) Beach Soccer Championship in Jezan city, Saudi Arabia.


The team, coached under the watchful eyes of experienced national coach Talib Hilal, began a domestic preparatory camp on Monday and will run until October 27. The ten days internal gathering is part of the team’s preparation for the forthcoming assignment including their participation at the International friendly tournament in Saudi Arabia in November which yet to be confirmed.


Also, the national team is gearing up for the 2023 AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup in Thailand in next March. The Asian event will act as a qualifier for the upcoming edition of Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup and the hosts will be decided in next month in Dubai.


Coach Talib Hilal opted 14 players for the upcoming camp in Muscat including: Khalid al Oraimi, Munthir al Oraimi, Mishaal al Oraimi, Abdullah al Souti, Amjad al Hamadani, Said al Farsi, Sami al Balushi, Younis al Owaisi, Yahya al Muriki, Abdulrahman al Fazari, Sameer al Saadi, Nooh al Battashi, Talal al Awadi and Ahmed al Owaisi.


Oman beach soccer team had ended their campaign at the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) Beach Soccer Championship in the runners up position after they defeated narrowly 3-2 by UAE in the final match. During the event, Oman team had started their opening match in Group A with a 4-2 win against eventual champions UAE. Oman thumped Kuwait 3-1 in the second game before going down 4-3 to Lebanon in the last group match. In semifinal, Oman defeated Palestine 6-3 to move into the final match.


Coach Talib Hilal’s men will return back to another warm up gathering by end of this month during October 30 to 7 November in Muscat. The forthcoming camp will feature friendly matches to raise up the technical readiness of the players.
