Theater competition concludes in Nizwa

NIZWA: A theatre competition was held in Nizwa Culture Centre to select troupes to represent Al Dakhiliyah and Al Wusta governorates.


Izki Club won first place, Bahla Club second, and Nizwa Third in the presence of a large audience of stage fans.


Izki Club’s play was written and directed by Abdul Malik bin Salim al Ghadani.


The play discusses social issues and is about a woman who torments her niece out of jealousy, which eventually leads to the death of the latter.


Nizwa Club presented a play written by Nouf bint Said al Mashaikhiyah and directed by Hafez al Busaidy, which discussed extortion in its various forms.


Bahla Club’s play on divorce was written by Wafa al Rashdi and Ruqaiah al Alawi, and directed by Wafa al Rashdi.


Samayil Club’s play, which was written by Ahmed al Kharousi and directed by Mahmoud al Maamari, touched on the rising number of murder cases.


Many plays were aimed at spreading awareness about social issues. All the performances were dominated by suspense and excitement. The jury consisted of Ahmed al Awaini and Dr Said Shannon.


The evaluations were based on artistic and aesthetic values, compatibility of the cast with the rest of the show as well as the comprehensive display, elements of the theater and display of scenes. Emphasis was also placed on entertainment and topics that carry a message.
