Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) hosted on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, a delegation of State Council members on an official visit to its Mina Al Fahal headquarters, headed by the Chairman of the State Council Shaikh Abdul Malik bin Abdullah al Khalili.

A senior PDO management team, headed by Managing Director Steve Phimister, gave an overview of the Company's performance on a range of matters including health, safety and the environment, production, major projects and the creation of job and training opportunities for Omanis, through its pioneering In-Country Value (ICV) and Lean efficiency programmes.

The State Council Chairman commended PDO's efforts, saying: “I was honoured to visit PDO and learn more about its significant projects and the role of its national workforce to support strategic projects in Oman and its economy.

“I praise PDO for its commitment towards achieving sustainable development in the concession area and supporting government efforts. I also commend its efforts in social responsibility as well as finding collaboration with the government, private sector and civil community towards achieving sustainable development.

He concluded: “We are proud of PDO’s endeavors to develop innovative solutions aligned with its business in regards to environment protection, which is aligned with achieving the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, and to create a sustainable and balanced environment.” This is the third time that PDO has hosted visitors from the State Council. The first was in March 2016 when a delegation, consisting of most of the Council's 84 members, paid a visit to PDO's Bait Mina Al Fahal HQ building, and the second was in October 2018, when they visited PDO's landmark projects in the south of its concession area.

PDO Managing Director Steve Phimister said: "It is with great honour that PDO host the esteemed delegation from the State Council for the second time at Mina Al Fahal headquarters. We are thrilled to share with the honourable members a glimpse of our refreshed strategy, newly defined purpose, and how PDO is developing and implementing the Net-Zero Emission plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

“As we adapt to the changing energy landscape, we remain committed to building a sustainable and low-carbon future, not only to ensure our Company's long-term success but also to continue generating oil and gas revenue in a cost-effective, energy-efficient manner to maximise value for the Sultanate of Oman."
