The Oman Botanic Garden, which is expected to be ready this year, will be one of its kind in the region and the world. Ideally located in the flourishing Al Khoudh area of the city, the garden will be on a 430-hectare protected natural area surrounded by mountains.

Salim bin Mohammed al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, recently said that the project would be completed this year, and its major attractions will include cable cars.

As of November 2022, the project was 65 per cent ready and, when completed, will showcase all the native plant species of Oman in a series of carefully created, naturalistic habitats from the deserts to the rich monsoon cloud forests.

Sources in the ministry said that significant progress had been made, and it will be one of the iconic projects for the Sultanate of Oman when opened to public.

The garden will also showcase the traditionally cultivated crops and how people use plants in the Sultanate of Oman.

The garden, one of the world's largest botanic gardens, will have a nursery, visitor centre, research centre, field study centre, outdoor habitat gardens, northern mountain biome, southern mountain biome, and nature reserve area.

The project includes giant glass domes with multiple entries and exit points for easy accessibility. It is situated close to the Muscat Expressway.

Developed on 423 hectares, the Botanic Garden will present an opportunity for visitors to experience the flora and vegetation of Oman, while learning about the country's agricultural heritage, rich cultural traditions, and legendary hospitality.

It is a world-class development of the Diwan of Royal Court. It will offer a variety of amenity areas, play, and family zones for fun and relaxation in a garden setting.
