Muscat: Sessions of the second international conference titled “Contemporary Society Issues in the Balance of Sharia” will begin on February 26, 2023.

The three-day conference, to be held under the theme of “approaches and solutions to contemporary society’s issues”, will be organized by the College of Sharia Sciences.

The conference, which will be attended by 97 researchers, will discuss contemporary intellectual issues, security and development issues, social, ethical, health and environmental issues, media and communication issues and evolving economic issues.

The conference seeks to demonstrate the ability of Islamic Sharia to provide appropriate solutions to modern-day issues. It will establish how Islamic sciences can be utilized in addressing emerging community issues and enhancing intellectual security, as well as social peace, and economic prosperity.

The conference will discuss the role of Sharia in safeguarding the safety of societies against extremism, preserving Islamic identity and spreading the values of justice, tolerance and harmony.

The participants will attempt to upgrade Sharia research from theory to practical application, and to consolidate methods of communication between universities and society. It will be an opportunity to exchange opinions on various contemporary problems and emerging issues and to arrive at positive results that benefit Muslims and help them overcome modern-day challenges.

The event reflects the Sharia College’s awareness about its responsibility to engage research and academic institutions into studying and resolving emerging issues and exploring their impacts on people’s lives.
