The archeological excavations conducted at Al Taikha site in the Wilayat of Al Rustaq uncovered a large human settlement dating back 4,500 years which is also the first of its kind to be unearthed in South Al Batinah Governorate.

The joint mission also excavated two cemeteries that were later sabotaged probably during the Iron Age some 2,000 years after being constructed. The cemeteries were then reused for other purposes. — ONA
