Muscat: The Royal Opera House Muscat will present Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s wonderful opera Le Nozze di Figaro on February 16 and 19. It is performed by the Accademia Teatro alla Scala conducted by Sestro Quatrini.

The opera features incredible young talented artists from the academy associated with one of the most famous opera companies in the world, Teatro alla Scala.

Le Nozze di Figarotells is the story of Figaro, a servant to the Count who is marrying Susanna, another member of the household. The opera is a comedy, following the twists and turns of a plot which sees the Count trying to woo Susanna himself, the Countess trying to win back the Count, a manservant who would woo anyone but in this case must don a disguise as a woman to confuse the Count, and a maid who thinks Figaro must repay a debt with marriage but turns out to be his mother.

Figaro is by turns tumbled by events and the chief puppet master of the story. Audiences love this opera.

Don’t miss this classical production, dressed with glorious period costume and staged by the acclaimed director Giorgio Strehler with revival director Marina Bianchi. Le Nozze di Figaro Will take place at the Royal Opera House Muscat on February 16 (Thursday) and February 19 (Sunday) at 7pm. A pre-performance talk will take place one hour ahead of the show.

The Marriage of Figaro is considered one of Mozart's most prominent works, which he wrote in 1786, based on a play by Pierre Augustin Caro de Beaumarchais with the same title. When it was shown for the first time in Vienna, it achieved tremendous success.

The reason for its success is due to its exciting musical opening, its melodies that reveal the truth about its characters, and its collective scenes full of life that captured the hearts of its audience, in addition to its touch with social reality.

The opera came as a sequel to a story The Barber of Seville written by French polymath Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais. The Barber of Seville, which takes place in Seville in the eighteenth century, carries deep implications related to love and forgiveness, and discusses community issues in a hidden way.

The highlights of the opera are the amazing direction of Giorgio Streller, elegant costumes designed by Franca Squarciapino and breathtaking artwork by Ezio Frigerio.
