MoTCIT under-secretary named Oman’s representative to DCO

RIYADH: Dr Ali bin Amer al Shidhani, Under-secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology, has been named to represent the Sultanate of Oman in the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO).


This was disclosed at the general assembly meeting hosted by the DCO in the Saudi capital to foster international cooperation between governments in digital cooperation.


Speaking to the media, Al Shidhani said that the Sultanate of Oman, a founding member of the DCO and its selection as a member of the executive council, would open new horizons for the digital economy in the Sultanate of Oman in particular in the region in general.


The DCO is a global multilateral organization established in November 2020 and aims to enable digital prosperity for all by accelerating comprehensive growth of the digital economy. The DCO brings together the ministries of communications and information technology of 11 countries namely Cyprus, Bahrain, Djibouti, Kuwait, Morocco, Nigeria, Sultanate of Oman, Pakistan, Jordan, Rwanda and Saudi Arabia. With a combined population of almost 600 million people of whom 70 per cent are under the age of 35, these countries together account for nearly $2 trillion in GDP.
