Manjari entertains at ISC Republic Day event

MUSCAT: The Indian Social Club (ISC) Oman in association with the Embassy of India organized a ghazal concert by playback singer and ghazal exponent Manjari at the Oman Auditorium at Al Bustan Palace Hotel.


Manjari, who started her musical journey from Muscat at the age of 5 years, regaled the crowd with her repertoire of ghazals.


Apart from her own compositions, she sang ghazals of legends Jagjit Singh, Ghulam Ali, and Mehdi Hasan.


She also paid tribute to the late Lata Mangeshkar by singing her popular songs.


Faryal Ansari, an audience, said, "music knows no boundaries as she sang popular ghazals of the subcontinent and ended with dam a dam mast qalandar.


Nafisa Khan said Manjari has matured as a singer and while Ragini Vaishnav said she kept the audience entertained with the variety of ghazals.


Babu Rajendran, General Secretary of ISC Oman, welcomed the gathering. Karanjeet Singh Matharoo, Vice Chairman of ISC, addressed the gathering, and Irshad Ahmed, Counsellor at Indian Embassy, greeted the audience on Republic day of India and spoke about the occasion.


Supin James, General Manager of Purshottam Kanji Exchange, and Shakeel, K M Cultural secretary ISC Oman, felicitated Manjari and her accompanying artists. Suhail Khan, ISC Entertainment Secretary, introduced the artists and proposed the vote of thanks.
