National team athletes dominate Oman League

Muscat: The first round of the Oman Athletics Federation League, organised by the Competitions Committee


of the Oman Athletics Association, was held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher on Friday.


In the general competitions, athletes of the national teams dominated the top places as Barakat al Harthy was ranked first in the 100-metre sprint. Rashid al Asmi claimed the second place while Khaled al Ghailani came in third.


In the 400 metres, Mohammed al Mabsali came in first place. Ahmed al Saadi claimed the second spot, while Othman al Busaidi finished third.


In the 1,500 metres, Hussein al Farsi topped the race, while Ahmed al Amri came in second place, and Mohammed al Sulaimani finished third.


In the long jump, Nawaf al Azki won first place, leaving second place to Bashar al Hadrami, followed by Abdullah al Salmani in third place.


In the youth competitions, national teams athletes showed impressive performance.


In 100 metres sprint, Ali Haji finished first, followed by Moayad al Salami and Abdullah al Handali in second and third respectively.


In the 400 metres race, Hamza al Jabri came first, Reda al Shizawi and Saifah shared second spot, followed by Hamza al Hinai in third place.


In the 1,500 metres race, Ghosn al Farsi was ranked first, Muath al Jaldani finished second and Abdul Rahman al Kharousi got third place.

JUNIOR SPRINT


In the 100 metres race for juniors, Abdullah al Balushi came in first place, Salem al Daghishi claimed the second spot and Salem al Khaduri finished third.


In the 1,500 metres race, Mohammed al Jabri won the top honours followed by Khaled al Mandhari in second and Fahd al Ghailani in third place.


In the 400 metre race, Salem al Tobi finished first.


In the high jump, Ayham al Hosani snatched the title. Ahmed al Khuwaitari claimed the shot-put honours and Hajan al Hajri emerged hammer throw champion.


In the rookies section, Muhannad Mohammad finished first followed by Saeed al Mazani and Hassan al Hinai in the 60 metres race.


In the 1,000 metres race, Al Harith al Jabri came in the first place, while Noah al Battashi finished runner-up and Elias al Nahdi finished third.


Osama al Riyami won the long jump title.


In shot put competition, Al Yaman al Hinai won first place, Al Waleed al Hinai came in second and the third place went to HH Sayyid Turki al Said. Mohammed al Balushi claimed the hammer throw honours.


MAZOON CLAIMS WOMEN’S 100M


In the women’s section, national team star Mazoon al Alawi claimed the 100-metre crown. Alaa al Zadjali came in second place and Hajar al Habsi finished third.


In the 1,500 metres race, Hana al Qasimi clinched the honours. Ragah al Zubaidi bagged the shot put title.


Asaad al Hosani, Secretary-General of the Oman Athletics Federation and head of the Competitions Committee, said: “The new year 2023 calendar is full of activities and events that serve teams in all age groups and stages, and the new direction of the OAA is to enter into new partnerships with a number of institutions in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth. The youth will manage the technical and arbitration aspects by the federation in coordination with the company supervising the organisation.”
